The Doctor's Nicknames

This past rotation Stewart has acquired two nicknames that I think are fitting, and telling about what kind of doctor my husband is.

The first is one a patient's family gave him - "Doctor Kind Eyes". He had to tell the wife how serious her husband's illness was and she told him that he had the kindest eyes she'd ever seen. And from then on she called him doctor kind eyes and that is what the family came to call him. He enjoyed working with their family and it was a tender experience working with them as their husband and father passed away.

The Second is akin to the first. His fellow residents gave him this one - "Wife Whisperer". As he is working in the Veterans Hospital right now he primarily sees older, very very sick men. More often then not he is communicating all day long with their wives discussing their husbands' treatment and prognosis. It seems that no one does it as well as he does. Whenever a wife calls in the team passes the phone to Stewart and his senior is always marveling at how well he does with them on the phone and on rounds.

At times now and then Stewart really dreads going to work. Its not because he doesn't care its because he does care.It is such a huge responsibility to try and heal bodies and preserve lives. I am so thankful for his kindness and thoughtfulness as he treats and works with his patients. He is a good doctor and I think his nicknames are evidence of that. He's always had such humble honest heart and its what makes him stand out as a healer. :) Good job Stewy.
