Spooner and Tahoe Lakes

This past Saturday we drove up to Spooner and Tahoe Lake for a day of family fun. It was a beautiful day. We first went on a short 2 1/2 mile, but not so short with kids, hike around Spooner lake. It was really pretty. There were so many wild flowers that I really loved. Everyone we met hiking around the lake was so nice. Letting the kids pet their dogs and such. After our hike we had a picnic and then we drove a couple miles down to Sand Harbor at Tahoe and played in the water for awhile. It really was the perfect day! Here are some pictures of our adventures.

Angeli loved the back pack until Bridger got tired and wanted a turn in it. Once she was able to hike on her own she wanted nothing more to do with the back pack.

Bridger loves the out doors. Everything from rocks, sand, and ants are exciting for him. We had to stop every couple of feet to let him explore something grand and new! I love seeing our kids enjoying the simple things so much.

Here is our trail blazer Angeli. We were surprised at what a tough hiker she is. She must have walked a third of the hike all by herself. Isn't she so cute just a hike'n away!?!??!?! The grass was taller then her but she just knew she was a big girl that could take on anything all by herself.

Bridger is such a handsome little guy. I think one of his favorite parts of the hike was saying "hi" to everyone that passed us up. We love how friendly and excited he is about life, what a joy!!!

Some nature shots I took around Spooner

And after getting wet and cooling off in Tahoe we were all tired. We plopped our diaper clad kiddos in the car and in a matter of minutes they were out. I love this picture. They are so very grown up but still very much our little babies.

Roll Out Those Lazy, Hazy, Crazy Days of Summer!

Life has been lovely! I Love summer time! The smell of sun screen, chlorine, eating popsicles and hamburgers really captures it for me. We have had the perfect mixture of busy and lazy and it is wonderful. Stew is done with his preceptorship and I am almost done with my recent surge of ceramic craziness. Today I have my last big eventish thing and I will be very glad when it is over with. There is such a thing as too much ceramics!!! But I must admit I love days like today when my latest glazed load turns out great! I love unloading my kiln to find gleaming beautiful impressions.

Despight my busy work load we have been able to play a lot and get myself a really lovely sun burn! So FUN !!!! ;) We haven't been great about taking pictures but we have taken a few. Here are some of the fun things we have been up to that I thought to bring our camera to. :)

Playing at Lazy 5 park. Angeli was sick and was a trooper for letting us drag her along even though she was miserable. My poor baby girl she had alergies, teething, and a cold all at once!!!

She could hardly open her eyes they were so swollen, so sad!

We love building forts together . For father's day Stew got The Jungle Book movie from the kids and I. It has always been one of his favorites - Stew loves animals. :) So we made a jungle inspired fort covering our TV and had a fun movie night together. Note the tiger atop our fort. :) Angeli and Bridger were growling all night because of it. Angeli's growl is the most pathetic cute growl I have ever heard! We Love it!

Bridger on the prowl

Playing peek-a-boo

Look how sick she looks, but still smiling. That sweet girl.

We have actually been able to use our community pool now that we have two parent to go along. YAY!! Angeli is not a water baby. She clings to me like a baby monkey and cries if I try to do anything "daring" with her. She gets better each time we go though and Bridger... he just plain loves it. :O)

This is Angeli being very daring, standing in the water by herself!

* Although my blog is sporting this fun song I do not endorse beer, bikinis, the use of the word "wieners" in place of "hot dogs" and unwed couples making out in cars! ;) LOL

Primary What?

Today was a busy fun day. First of all, happy father's day to all you dad's out there!!! Especially to my hubby, my sweet Dad, and my gracious Dad Ras. You are all so wonderful! Thanks for all you do for me and those I love!

Today was crazy in my new calling. Let me expand. Today our first counselor was gone (haven't seen her yet, had a baby three/four weeks ago), the secretary was gone, the chorister was gone, the nursery was without teachers whom I had to find subs for and in our small ward it is hard to find them. Then on top of that we were supposed to be orienting new teachers that the last presidency called and we had no idea where they were supposed to be teaching. I was supposed to be teaching sharing time all at the same time. The president and I were fine but a little ... lost. The president has never been in primary before and has been in our ward a grand total of three weeks. With me being so closed off to the world of nursery we are a bad pair when it comes to knowing who the heck is who! But we made it. Sharing time went well and in the end it was really rather fun. I swear I walked half a mile in circles around my church building running to the library and such. I feel really bad for the president. I will be leaving for a month in two weeks. Everyone better come back by then or bless her heart, she'll be doing a one man show!!!

Movie Review

Life has been so crazy and busy. But I did want to blog about movies. I have been having late nights doing stuff for my business and thus watching movies while I glaze and such. I really love movies. My life long favs are old movies...that is what I was raised on, Oldies. I think that is why I am a little old fashioned, think we should break into song every time our mood shifts, and why I am a big time romantic. :O) Some of my favorites:

Seven Brides for Seven brothers - watched it last night as I glazed ceramics until 2:30 am!
Bringing Up Baby - the 30's black in white movie! Love it, It has Kathryn Hepburn and Cary Grant in it. Some of the best ever! It is really funny.

A&E's Pride and Prejudice - long but worth it! Best watched with sister's. :O)
The Court Jester - Fun and funny

Hello Dolly - The movie version with Barbra Streisand. This one is fun. Fun "old school" musical.
It's a Wonderful Life - Just love it, even when it's not Christmas time. Moving and happy. Meaningful for sure.
It Started With Eve - LOVE this one! SO funny!!! Happy ending and she has a great voice!

Recently I rented these two:

Lars and the Real Girl - this one is "A Whimsical, Funny, Moving Film!" I really liked it. It made me laugh, it made me smile, it made me happy, and it made me cry. It is a bit odd but very very pure and sweet. If you don't like oddness in your characters then skip it. One of my favorite parts is when all the old ladies at the church come to his home and bring him casseroles and SIT. "In time of tragedy this is what people do. They come and sit with you. Just sit. And bring casseroles too." Okay that is not the exact wording but it's something like that. They look so Mormon motherly and they all sit there knitting and I just thought that is exactly what I would want in "times of tragedy". Momish women to surround me and bring me yummy food and comfortably sit by my side.

Becoming Jane - I was disappointed in this one. The past few years I have really fallen out of love with sad endings. I hate thinking that life can be left undone, that people that are created in my movie world can be cut off in my consciousness in a sad state. It is very A & E ish (which to me was a good thing) But Stew swears he hardly knew what they were saying the whole time. I did think Anne Hathaway did a good job though. So if you like a movie that makes you sad and you have to really concentrate on what they are saying then you'd like this one.

My Problem With Twilight

I love the Twilight series. I mean, who has read them and not become an addict? My only problem is that they are so dang popular! I have an issue with popular things. Harry Potter, scrapbooking, Cell phones, I Pods, and Mac computers all have given me the same issues. They are just so popular I decide I want nothing to do with them. It must just be my pride. I do not like feeling like I am being compelled to do things. I like to think it was my idea and not someone else's. Why am I that way? I guess if I were a big music, reading, computer, and craft buff I would not feel that way. But because I am not, I totally feel like a poser. If I am doing it just because everyone said it was cool then it feels rather fake. But despite my total lack of true reading passion I love Harry Potter and I love Twilight. I never wanted a cell phone because it was so over done but then I really really was addicted to them. Despite my little craftiness I really enjoy scrapbooking. And although I do not own a Mac or an I pod I think they are really truly awesome. Yup, its true I must be a poser!

But I can live with my poser love of Twilight, I like it just that much! I am throwing a Twilight party at my house! I am soooo excited about it! Stewart is really embarrassed about it, every time I bring it up he cringes. Sorry hun, but I think it will be a blast! You are all officially invited!!! It is the night before the book release. August 1st. All fans are invited or anyone who wants to eat a lot of red food (going with the vampire theme -blood) and listen to people obsess about vampires, romance and guessing what will happen next! I think I might make a trivia game to help us all remember the books before we read the next one. Oh, I am so excited! Food, a fun theme, and socializing! Who could ask for more!?!

Number Three So Fast?

I have been trying to figure out whether I would consider myself an easygoing person or an intense person (simply because I am annoyingly introspective!). I finally realized today that I am easy going compared to my old days but nonetheless, I am intense. I came to this conclusion when I was thinking about me being pregnant again. When people tell me that they could never have their babies that close I find it odd that I don't feel the same way at all. It makes way more sense to not rush, but I feel I could never not have them super close. In fact I feel like we waited quite awhile to have this one, if I had to wait one more month to get pregnant (Stewart can verify this) I would have been near suicidal. LOL, I was a mess! One year break between babies!?! To me that is huge! :) Looking at the numbers I am going to have three kids two and under. Not for very long mind you, but still having three kids under three is saying something. I have had a baby in 2006, 2007, and now I will have a baby in 2008. A baby a year is a bit much. :O) But really I have never been one to do things in an easygoing manner. When I decide I am going to start working out, I WORKOUT! I do a workout video every morning, run six miles everyday, I like to throw in a walk "for the kids", and sit-ups too if I am board. When I decided I was going to go to college, I went to COLLEGE! I started at BYU and then 3 years later I graduated. I did every term and semester I could...why take a break?!??!?! So I guess when I decided to have babies, I am HAVING BABIES! I make up my mind and then I am full-steam ahead. I am just built that way - I must get it from my dad, that is how I would describe my father. I really am depressed when I don't have something to obsess about, OCDish and true! So that is my explanation to the world about baby number three. I don't really feel I need to have one or even that anyone cares much, but I guess I just wanted to write about it. :O) Basically it just plane makes me happy to go forward so darn fast. I love thinking that when I do toddlers I will do toddlers to the max, and when we do elementary school then we will REALLY be doing elementary school, and WOW! the high school years will be a blur!!! I find that just perfect for me and the tempo I thrive at. I feel grateful that we have been able to get pregnant when we have wanted to, each person gets the spacing they need and I guess we have gotten ours = close!

However, in my defense to those who find rushed people annoying, I often feel the same way!!! I adore my husband because he is not rushed at all. He is the essence of calm. He makes sure that I can still watch TV, eat tons of cookies, not fold the laundry, never scrapbook, bypass workouts, let the dishes pile up, and toilets turn yellow and miraculously I don't stress one bit about it. Thank heavens for wonderful people like Stewart in the world that keep rushed obsessive types like me grounded!

I decided that I am actually going to take pregnancy pictures this time around. It may be more of a chronicle of weight gain then tummy growth :) but I am going to do it anyways. Here I am at 8 weeks.

I think that is pretty big for eight weeks, but I know most people would think that is weak! :O) I am now five weeks further along. I will take a picture this week sometime. I am not sure if my tummy is much bigger but my thighs sure are! That will at least be fun to see! LOL

I am due December 9th. I am now 13 weeks along. The past two weeks I have been feeling pretty good as far as morning sickness goes, I am a bit nervous that I am feeling too good and maybe miscarrying but then I threw-up on Monday. That left me more reassured that our baby is still doing it's thing! You go baby! :)

A Day at Tahoe

We loaded up the family with the kid's Uncle Lee (My sister Bethany's husband) and headed to Tahoe for some mountain fun while he was in town picking up his new hot ride - our funny little truck. It was a lovely day at Tahoe. We played on the beach, climbed lots of rocks around the shore, did some super easy path hikes, and had a great picnic. The animals at our picnic site were obviously very used to humans. At one point we had four squirrels and about ten birds hanging out very close to our food. Bridger and Angeli loved being so close to them and chasing them away when they got too friendly. :O) The kids and us were in heaven and it really was beautiful. I am already planning our next trip. If I get my way it will be this weekend!

Stewart is one of those that reads the little placards at museums and zoo's and other such places. In his and Lee's reading we learned some interesting facts about Tahoe.

- It is the third/second deepest lake in The U.S., tenth deepest in the world
- It's surface water never gets hotter then 70 degrees
- Is drained only by the Truckee River which is our river that passes our home
-The Trukee river is the river that makes Pyramid Lake in Nevada
-Tahoe was formed by moving plates and glaciers
- Twenty rivers and streams fill it today
- the water is super clear and blue!!!

Faith Whether You are Daniel or Abinidi

I have always thought of myself as someone with a good portion of faith. In some areas I have very deep and (to me) very profound reverence and faith. In other areas I know I lack the insight and experience to truly appreciate and have complete faith. But I have never thought my Faith (in a general sense) was off track until recently. I realized my faith though very passionate and strong was in fact a little misled. Through that experience I realized an element of faith as a whole that I never really had internalized before. My realization:

We are asked to have faith in the Lord. We are asked to have faith that He will be there for us, that He will not leave us comfortless and without aid. We are asked to believe in things hoped for but not seen. And I guess I let my hopes construct what I had faith in a little too much. I began to have faith in the Lord doing things my way. When I prayed about my life struggles I found myself saying things like, "Father I am worried about life. I wonder when it will be better. I have Faith that it will get better. " Which is a fine prayer except my "better" was a very loaded word. Better was defined by specific things, things that I didn't realize might be futile to have hope and faith in. If the Lord tells you that you will someday travel the world and then you spend your life having faith that you will sprout wings and fly then you have a long wait and a lot of disappointment ahead of you! :) We have been promised that we will be okay, that everything will be all right, that we can have joy and profound peace now and in eternity - not that we will have things our way.

I often see two differing types of stories in the scriptures. Some are like Daniel in the lions den. He had faith. He is thrown in a den of lions BUT they don't eat him because God saves the day! The king retrieves Daniel from the den, the unjust law is revoked and everyone but the bad guys turns out happy. Then there are those stories like Abinidi . He was a man of tremendous faith but things didn't go too smooth for him. He might have envisioned helping to convert many of the people and building up the church in righteous service for years to come, but that was not what happened. When he was delivered to the "den of lions' he was burned to death. He died. Was everything all right in the end? Of course!!!! Is Abinidi happy? Of course! Was his dream to teach the Gospel and make a difference granted? Yes, hello Alma!!! And I am sure he has taught countless people of the Gospel on the other side.

Tragedy happens, things can appear to go completely wrong to us and still go even more wrong. Daniel did not feel real excited to be hanging out with hungry lions but things turned out perfect anyways. Abinidi, was unlucky and it didn't get much better. But in both stories everything was okay and ultimately both great men accomplish what they longed for the most. Outcomes are promised to us, not necessarily events.

The most dramatic example is of Jesus. The Saviour didn't really have the idealistic life. However he lived the most profound life of any person who has ever lived or will live. He came to this world to be our Saviour, that is what he yerned for the most and that was what He was granted. He was in no measure excited to suffer in Gethsemane but He did it because it was God's will and because it was what would ultimately would bring Him unbelievable joy - fulfilling his purpose, redemption.

We have covenanted with our Heavenly Father and Saviour to try our best to do our part and and have the faith that they will do theirs, which is to bring us exaltation and eternal joy. Often in life tragedy is the rout we are asked to take to accomplish such outcomes as it is often a rout we never knew existed.

I realized in this realization that I needed the sort of faith that believes not just in happy routs but the sort of faith of Abinidi. I needed the faith in which I am willing to walk into a lions den for the Lord even when I know God could still let the lions devour me. This dose not mean I should live in fear. No, it means we live empowered; afraid of nothing. We can go forward knowing that lions may eat us but that they will never destroy us, that with God there is nothing to fear. That our lives, no matter how un-idealistic, they are profound and without doubt accomplish what we most desire. We are not living wasted lives, we are living our deepest desires into life, we are serving our Lord, we are obtaining joy. I realized I must live not in denail of tragedy but with the faith to never fear it. That is a grand thing, realistic and grand.

Pioneers crossed the plains with much difficulty but they all reached their Promised Land and the rest in the Lord they so longed for whether they made it to Utah or not. We will always hope that Lions never get us but most importantly we will have faith that God is over all, we are His.
